1. BEFORE YOU LIFT OR MOVE A PATIENT, THINK, PREPARE AND
COMMUNICATE.
THINK---EVERY SITUATION CAN, AND PROBABLY WILL,BE DIFFERENT,EVEN WITH THE SAME PATIENT ON THE SAME DAY.
PREPARE--MAKE SURE THE BED, WHEELCHAIR OR OTHER EQUIPMENT IS
POSITION CORRECTLY WITH BRAKES IN APPROPRIATE POSITION.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AND USE A TRANSFER BELT.
COMMUNICATE---INFORM THE PATIENT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO.
2. SIZE UP THE LOAD TO BE MOVED. WHEN IN DOUBT, GET HELP. USE A
MECHANICAL LIFTING DEVICE WHEN NECESSARY.
3. GET CLOSE TO WHATEVER IS BEING LIFTED.
INSTEAD OF REACHING FOR IT.
4. LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS, NOT WITH YOUR BACK.
5. LIFT SMOOTHLY,AVOIDING JERKY MOTIONS AND TWISTING.
6. RETURN BED CRANKS TO A SAFE. POSITION WHEN NOT IN USE.
7. KEEP DOORS AND DRAWERS CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE.
8. WEAR PROPER CLOTHING AND LOW-HEELED SHOES.
9. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED WHERE OXYGEN IS BEING USED.
A 'NO SMOKING' SIGN MUST BE POSTED.
10.EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE IN PATIENT ROOMS SHOULD BE ARRANGED
IN AN ORDERLY MANNER FOR MAXIMUM NURSING EFFICIENCY
AND PATIENT SAFETY.
HOUSEKEEPING
1. CLEAN OR WAX FLOORS IN HALLS ONE SIDE AT A TIME; ALLOW FLOOR TO DRY BEFORE WORKING ON THE OTHER SIDE. KEEP EQUIPMENT CORDS AND EXTENSIONS CLEAR OF FLOOR TRAFFIC.
2.POST WARNING SIGNS WHEN CLEANING WORK IS BEING DONE IN AISLE WAYS,
HALLS AND ROOMS.
3. BROOMS, MOPS AND CLEANING CARTS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED
IN HALLS AND ROOMS.
4. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABEL WHEN USING CLEANING SOLUTIONS AND FLOOR TREATMENT COMPOUNDS. DO NOT MIX CLEANING SOLUTIONS.
5. USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING,RUBBER GLOVES,APRONS,ET,
WHEN HANDLING STRONG CLEANING SOLUTIONS.
6. USE A STEPLADDER OR WIDE-BASED STOOL TO REACH HIGH PLACES.
DO NOT STAND ON CHAIRS OR TABLES. DO NOT CLIMB ON SHELVES.
